Here at our Mountain Getaway @ The Alaska Lodge you will enjoy a relaxing picturesque and quiet vacation. While staying you might see moose, fox, and the occasional bear. We also have bald eagles, swans, loons and ducks. With the binoculars you are likely to spot Dall sheep on the surrounding mountains. Please note that our Mountain Getaway home does not have lake access. It has an amazing view but no access to the lake through this property.

Relax on the couch or at the fire pit while surveying the amazing view of Matanuska Peak. The house sits at just over 800 feet and the Peak shoots to 6097 feet just behind the lake! Enjoy our wi-fi, smart tv, games and more as you hang out in the peaceful setting of the property.

Staying with us puts you right in the middle of what most folks want to see on an Alaskan adventure. Within a short drive of the lodge you can walk on a glacier, pan for gold, fish for salmon in a river or the ocean, hike fantastic trails, pet reindeer, moose or musk-ox, hunt for fossils or many other FANTASTIC activities!

Mountain Getaway @ The Alaska Lodge

The Mountain Getaway is 1700 sq ft, has three queen beds and one twin. It sleeps 7 people comfortably. The master bed and bath are located on the first floor. On the second floor are two bedrooms along with a full sized bath. The open floor plan kitchen, dining room and living space is ideal for social gatherings. With lake facing floor to ceiling windows that are perfect for the long Alaskan days.

Why The Alaska Lodge?

There are three main reasons why we believe The Alaska Lodge is a great place to stay in Alaska.

  • Location. You get to feel the Real Alaska wilderness and have amazing views without having to take a bush plane into a remote location and be hours from civilization. We are only an hour drive from Anchorage. You are centrally located between Denali National Park, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and the Kenai River and all that area has to offer.

  • Location. We are minutes from the Williams Reindeer Farm, Hatcher Pass, Bodenburg Butte, AK Ziplining, Musk-ox Farm and so much for local fun.

  • Location. We are also just 20 minutes from 24-hour dining in downtown Palmer. There are great shops, the Palmer Museum, the Palmer Alehouse and so much more!

What to do in our area.

The Alaska Lodge is located in Southcentral Alaska’s Matanuska Valley. Experience the spectacular Denali National Park to the north, and glacier cruise the rugged Alaskan coastline to the south. Day trips from the lodge may include Denali flightseeing and glacier landing; glacier and wildlife cruising, salt-water fishing, ocean kayaking and much more!

Hiking

Just minutes from the lodge are multiple trailheads venturing into the Chugach Mountains that range from beginner to advanced. You can leisurely hike and sight see or climb a mountain peak if you choose! On a hike from the Chalet, you might have the opportunity to pick wild blueberries, photograph wildlife, or watch salmon complete their journey when they return to the lake to spawn. There are many adventures awaiting you here at The Alaska Lodge! Within the Matanuska Valley, you have over 1,200 miles of non-permit hiking trails with world class views in three different mountain ranges.

Fishing

When you arrive, you will be surrounded by lakes and rivers. You will find an abundance of Alaskan freshwater fishing opportunities for the skilled and the novice outdoorsman. A short drive gives you access to unbelievable fishing for rainbow and lake trout, Dolly Varden, Greyling, Arctic char, pike and all 5 species of salmon. From Palmer, you are only 2-½ hours from the world famous Kenai River kings, 3-½ hours from Seward's silver salmon and just over 5 hours from Homer, the halibut capital of the world!
